Truck dispatch · Hotshot

Hotshot dispatch.

Small, fast and urgent. Priced for the urgency.

Hotshot is small, fast and often urgent: a heavy-duty pickup with a gooseneck or flatbed trailer, moving freight that can't wait for a full truckload. The money is in the speed, and in never hauling air.

The details
Urgent freight, priced like it
Hotshot loads are often expedited: a part a machine is down for, a job site that needs it today. We price the urgency, not just the miles.
Weight and length first
A hotshot rig carries far less than a semi. We check every load's weight and dimensions against your truck and trailer before we talk rate.
Energy, farm and construction
Much of the West's hotshot freight comes from Alberta and Saskatchewan energy and agriculture, and construction sites up and down the corridor.
Partials that fit together
Two partials going the same way can beat one small load, as long as the weight and the stops work. We do the math before we book.
What we watch on hotshot

Know which rules apply to your rig.

Your weight rating decides your license and logbook rules. Settle it first.

Why it matters

Whether you need a commercial license, your own operating authority, and which inspection and logbook rules apply depends on the combined weight rating of your truck and trailer and on what you haul, and the lines are different between provinces, states and countries. Get that settled with the agency before your first load. We plan within whatever your setup allows.

General information, not advice. Check the rules with the agency before you run.

Why we say this

Requirements change and this page may not be current: confirm anything regulatory with the relevant agency or your own advisor before you run. We'll flag what we see during setup, but the obligation sits with the carrier and its authority.

Questions carriers ask

Answered straight.

Do you dispatch non-CDL hotshot?

Yes, as long as your setup is legal for the loads you haul. We book within your weight rating and the license you hold.

Where do hotshot loads come from?

The main load boards all carry hotshot and partial freight, and some brokers specialize in it. We work your board account and the brokers we know.

Can hotshot really compete with semis?

On the right loads, yes: smaller, urgent freight where a full truck is overkill. On the wrong loads a semi beats you on price every time. Our job is booking you the right ones.
